The Marie & Lola Team Edit

Meet the Marie & Lola team! These are the women behind the scenes, working hard to bring you beautiful French fashion from the best independent brands. They live and breathe the Marie & Lola brand and they know the collection inside out. Here's a little bit about them, the pieces from the Marie & Lola collection that they always return to and their other fashion & lifestyle loves.

Stéphanie, Marie & Lola Founder

Tell us a little bit about you...
Having had a career in banking, I took a break to spend time with my children and eventually established a retail business selling ethical resortwear. When this proved too seasonal, my focus shifted to independent French brands, offering the ex-pat French community in London a place to buy their favourite labels from home. From the events & fairs I attended, it quickly took off and I realised I needed to take the business online. And, several years later, here we are today!

Which brands and stores do you love to shop?
In Paris - you can't help but shop in Paris! - I love Galeries Lafayette for their selection of classic French brands such as Isabel Marant, Claudine Pierlot and Vanessa Bruno. Their bags are divine too! In London, I always go to Anthropologie and The Conran Shop for a feel of the latest interior design trends. I love candles - my favourites come from Jo Malone, Dyptique, Zara and Baobab.

Which are your favourite pieces from the Marie & Lola collection?
I love shirts - especially those adorned with frills or broderie anglaise. The series of Aglae shirts in our collection this season are stunning and the Servane shirt with its whimsical detailing has been my go-to shirt with jeans. Anyone who knows me - or has been a loyal customer of ours - will know I have a passion for prints, especially in the form of maxi skirts. I'll wear mine year-round and this year, it's been the Mathilde maxi skirt for me. I'm going to be wearing it from summer right through to the winter and beyond.

Valerie, Retail & Events

Tell us a little bit about you...
I'm Parisian and I've been in London for the last 23 years. I have three children and my husband is Lebanese so we're very multi-cultural at home. I have worked in finance and retail - specifically children's clothing and French brands - and now I'm freelance. I'm a foodie and my biggest loves are Lebanese pastries and a platter of French cheese!

Which brands and stores do you love to shop?
I love interior design and finding small, independent brands and makers. Beautiful home fragrances are a passion of mine - give me a Dyptique candle and I'm delighted!

Which are your favourite pieces from the Marie & Lola collection?
I have spent the last few months almost living in the Stella jumpsuit. I wear it all the time! The quality is fantastic and it looks so chic for such an affordable price. I also love the Maelys cardis for their bright colours and their versatility through summer and winter.

Lydia Mansi, Marketing - LM Media

Tell us a little bit about you...
My background is in editorial, for luxury lifestyle magazines across London.
I moved into brand consultancy 10 years ago and now run LM Media, a creative agency that supports independently owned, female-founded brands like Marie & Lola in their marketing, e-commerce, photo shoots and social media. We decamped from The Capital to Devon when parenthood loomed and I now live on the coast with my husband, two young sons and rescue puppy.

Which brands and stores do you love to shop?
I am passionate about supporting indie retailers and as a 'nation of shopkeepers' I don't think the UK can be beaten. I love Collate Interiors for quirky, artisan-made homewares and Anemone Interiors for vintage Italian furniture and accessories. For fashion I love the mix of boho brands at The Jacksons in Notting Hill and Lovely’s Vintage online for an on-trend edit of vintage treasures. I’m a huge Grensons boot fan (6 pairs and counting!) and pair them with all my maxi dresses for a more modern look.

Which are your favourite pieces from the Marie & Lola collection?
I have worn my green Celeste dress (pictured) on repeat this summer, I love the embroidery and tassel detail, worn with my quilted leather sandals. I have the Hugo cardigan in an array of colours and it’s perfect to shrug on over my summer dresses so I can wear them in autumn. My Marie & Lola staple is probably a print skirt; I love Stephanie’s edit each season and always add at least one to my collection! I love them for a feminine ‘off-duty’ look with a simple tee, trainers and denim jacket.

Kat White, Marketing - LM Media

Tell us a little bit about you...
I'm half Danish, half English and I've lived and worked in marketing in London, Sydney and New Zealand before returning to sunny Devon to focus on family life by the sea. Six years ago I went freelance and subsequently joined the LM Marketing team over two years ago, since which time I've been working with Stéphanie on supporting and growing Marie & Lola.

Which brands and stores do you love to shop?
When I'm in my native Copenhagen I always head straight to Illums Bolighus. It's a palace of the best Scandinavian interior design. I also love Georg Jensen for their home accessories as well as their jewellery. For fashion, I love Danish brand Love & Divine with their super feminine style, my local boutique, Polka, where I always discover small, independent brands and Honey & Toast for their amazing bags.

Which are your favourite pieces from the Marie & Lola collection?
I absolutely love everything about my Maelys cardi (pictured) in blue, from the openwork knit to the colour and its lightweight warmth. I can wear it on cooler evenings in the summer and as a top layer throughout the winter. And I know other colours are landing soon too! The Mia bomber jacket in black is my go-to jacket for adding a bit of glitz. I'll wear it both evening and day. It's beautifully soft to the touch and I love the lining. I've had so many compliments wearing it.
